Tara's third person performance biography began in the living room of a Chicago bungalow. In sparkly-blue-camouflage bell bottoms and a girl power bandana, Tara proclaimed herself an unofficial member of N*sync, The Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears (this was especially controversial). She spent hours choreographing 8-counts and singing 90s pop hits into her mother's work headset, inspiring an early love of performance.
Though Tara aspires to the careers of musical theater greats like Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch, her love of singing was initially inspired by the powerhouse vocals of her favorite pop-punk bands Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! At the Disco.
Tara moved to New York City to join the inaugural class of The New Studio on Broadway at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she received a BFA in Drama.
Tara is a proud member of the Story Pirates Acting Company and a budding voiceover artist. She recently started pursuing songwriting, and you can follow her journey on instagram @tarahalpern for more original content.
When she's not pursuing her performance passion, you can find Tara cooking her Dad's vegetarian recipes, writing a cabaret about boys she loved in high school, or pondering names for the mini Australian Shepherd she will one day own.
Tara recently discovered that in Hindi her name means 'star'.
Tara is 'v' humble.
